1. Do your homework
When approaching any interview, the first thing you need to do, is make sure you do your homework on the company that you’re interviewing with. It’s as simple as typing the company name or web address into Google.
Whilst you’re doing your research, also take a look at the exec team, this gives you a sense of tenure, community and culture.
Companies will tend to put what they specialise in and they may have different divisions or technologies that you may want to be involved in, helping you to envision your future progression.
2. Prepare questions
When carrying out your research, make sure you are building up a list of questions that you want answering. Whilst the company is interviewing you, you have the chance to interview them as well, because you need to make sure this is the best next step for your career.
Don’t take it as though you’re being interrogated, put them in the hotseat and based on their responses, you’ll know if the company is going to be a great company to work for.
When asking a questing, you expect a straight answer, and if they are not answering straight, it might not be the right place for you.
3. Dress to impress
Make sure you’re turning up to your interview dress for the job you want and if you’re unsure on what to wear, it’s simple…wear a suit.
What’s the worst that can happen for being dressed too smart? You’ll be taken more seriously. What’s the worst that can happen if you underdress, you may be nexted from the job.
Getting the best jobs is all about preparation, so if you do these, you’ll start to see more offers coming in and a better chance of you scoring the job you’ve always wanted.
